Timber is a building material widely preferred in modern construction projects for its sustainability, aesthetic appearance and architectural flexibility. However, as a combustible material, it requires special passive fire protection systems to maintain its load-bearing capacity during a fire and control flame spread.
Advanced fire protection coatings expand during a fire on the timber surface to form a protective insulation layer. This layer reduces the heat reaching the timber surface, delays the spread of fire and increases the fire resistance of structural elements.
Water-based and environmentally friendly intumescent coating systems provide effective fire protection for timber columns, beams, CLT panels, wall and floor elements. These systems, which expand to form a protective foam layer when exposed to high temperatures, increase the fire resistance of timber structural elements and, depending on project requirements, can provide B-s1,d0 reaction class and fire resistance between R30 and R60.
Thanks to transparent or tintable options, the natural grain of timber is preserved and fire safety is provided without compromising architectural aesthetics.
Our passive fire protection solutions have been developed in compliance with international fire test standards and work in full compatibility with timber structural elements. Water-based, environmentally friendly coating systems with low VOC values can be safely applied in both new construction projects and fire safety improvements to existing buildings.
