Spray applied fireproofing materials are passive fire insulation solutions developed to protect structural elements against the effects of high temperatures and flames. Applied by spray method especially to steel, concrete and masonry surfaces, they delay the heat generated during a fire from reaching the load-bearing elements directly. This protection is vital for materials such as steel, which can rapidly lose strength at high temperatures. Thus, the building's structural system maintains its stability for a certain period, gaining the critical time needed for safe evacuation and intervention.
These materials containing cementitious binders form an effective thermal barrier thanks to their low thermal conductivity.
